Event Details
Lifelong pals RJ (percussion) and James (trumpet and vocals) go back over 40 years to Detroit's fertile east side music scene of the late 1970's where they helped start a band that later emerged as the Sun Messengers. With that band they toured throughout the midwest, Ontario and several forays to NYC and Boston. James moved to NY and RJ stayed in Detroit but was very active as a touring musician. Both traveled throughout Europe, RJ hit all 48 of the continental states and 8 Canadian Provinces and James lived and worked in Mexico. So music took these men around much of the world.
Bob Sweet on drums, Emen Obasi on bass and Oliver Nevels on guitar have all had their own exploits as career musicians. Bob, was part of the creative music scene in Woodstock, NY and Detroit, Emen performing with basically all of the Detroit jazz greats and also toured Europe and Oliver, a busy touring guitarist with world famous jazz organists like Richard "Groove" Holmes and "the Mighty Burner" Charles Earland.
